Official Launch of the ROBO STEAM ACADEMY Project – Key Action 2
29 November 2024
On 26–27 November 2024, the official launch of the ROBO STEAM ACADEMY project took place. This is an Erasmus+ initiative in the field of education, through which partner organisations from Bulgaria, Romania, and Slovakia—including competence centers, technology institutes, universities, non-governmental organizations, and vocational education institutions—aim to harness the potential of robots and STEAM methodologies (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) in educational and edutainment platforms to enhance skills and competencies in the STEM field.
The ROBO STEAM ACADEMY project (Project No. 2024-1-BG01-KA220-VET-000256580), funded under the Erasmus+ programme, aims to create, pilot, and disseminate the necessary know-how for teaching robotics within STEM—both in traditional classroom settings and within a network of Robo STEM academies designed to support extracurricular technology-based learning activities.
The project is built on a partnership between the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies, Bulgaria; the Technical University of Košice, Slovakia; the Secondary School of Electrical Engineering in Bratislava, Slovakia; the Nikola Tesla Academy, Bulgaria; the Cezar Nicolau Technological High School, Romania; and the Romanian National Association of Librarians and Public Libraries, coordinated by the National STEM Centre.
Through their joint activities, the ROBO STEAM ACADEMY partners will provide students and teachers with ready-to-use STEM projects and supporting tools that can be used to teach and learn STEM subjects with the aid of robotics.
The project team will develop an advanced web-based game, and a specially appointed jury will be responsible for organising international online Robo-STEM competitions, Robo-STEM lessons, and a toolkit for teachers. In addition, the project will establish an edu-hub and a Robo-STEM community of practice to facilitate educational innovation and inclusive digital transformation in the three partner countries, as well as in Ukraine, North Macedonia, and across the European Union.
